Starbucks Adding a Plant-Based Breakfast Sandwich

Meat-free breakfast, coming to Starbucks in the US and Canada

Starbucks Adding a Plant-Based Breakfast Sandwich
Starbucks has announced plans to start selling a plant-based, vegan breakfast sandwich in the US and Canada.

After receiving a petition from Animal Outlook to increase their vegan options, Starbucks is responding with a new breakfast sandwich. This sandwich will be made with a vegan, plant-based meat substitute.

The announcement was made during a quarterly earnings call. Starbucks COO Rosalind Brewer told investors that company plans to explore a number of new plant based options in addition to the breakfast sandwich.

This news comes shortly after Starbucks added new vegan, non-dairy milk options, which they featured in new coffee beverages such as the Almond Milk Honey Flat White and Oatmilk Honey Latte.

Starbucks is joining other fast food restaurants that have already introduced plant-based breakfast sandwiches. Dunkin Donuts has been selling a Beyond Sausage Sandwich and Hardee's and Carl's Jr both offer Beyond Sausage Biscuits.

There is no word yet on whether Starbucks will source their plant-based meat-alternative patties from Impossible Meats, Beyond Meat or another company. Expect the new plant-based Starbucks Breakfast Sandwich to arrive this year (2020) at Starbucks locations across the US and Canada.
