A few years ago, Popeyes rocked the fast food world with their fried Chicken Sandwich. It went viral, sold out in days and was copied by EVERY restaurant chain. Yes, ALL OF THEM. Panera? Yup. KFC? Obvi. Taco Bell? YES! Did you really already forget about their Chicken Sandwich Taco?
It's time for all the other restaurant chains to grab a pen and paper, because Popeyes has a new chicken sandwich for them to copy. Starting this week, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich is available at Popeyes locations nationwide. It's the same Popeyes chicken sandwich you've come to know and love, but with the flavor turned up to 11.
The Blackened Chicken Sandwich is features chicken breast that has spent at least 12 hours marinating in a blend of Cajun and Creole seasoning. Like Popeye's OG chicken sando, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich is served on a brioche bun and is topped with barrel-cured pickles and your choice of regular or spicy mayo. And honestly, if you're ordering you Cajun and Creole seasoned sandwich and NOT getting the spicy mayo, I'm judging you. GO FULL SPICE OR GO HOME, as they say in Louisiana (probably).
The Blackened Chicken Sandwich appears to be a permanent addition to the Popeyes menu. But that doesn't mean you should dilly dally and wait to try this Cajun sensation. For a limited time, Popeyes is offering FREE french fries when you order a Blackened Chicken Sandwich on their app or website. But HOLD UP. There is a catch.
You don't actually get free french fries with your sandwich order. Instead, after you complete your sandwich order, you'll receive 200 rewards points, which is not so coincidentally the exact number of points you need to score yourself a free regular-sized order of fries on your next order.
If you really want your free fries with your sandwich, don't worry, we've got you covered. You'll need to place one order for the sandwich and then a second order for the fries using your points. It's called gaming the system, and if they didn't want us to, they shouldn't have made it so forking easy to do.
