It might be basic, but I like pumpkin stuff. Pies, coffee, bread, you name it. Heck, every single scented candle I own is pumpkin scented (I only own one, but still). So you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that Baskin Robbins was coming out with a limited time Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream flavor.
As visions of pumpkin ice cream danced in my head, my phone alerted me that I had received a $2 off coupon for Baskin Robbins, courtesy of T-Mobile Tuesday. It was a sign from God! He wanted, nay, he NEEDED me to have this Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream!
I dutifully put my mask on and headed to my neighborhood Baskin Robbins. Minutes later, I walked out carrying a cup (because fork cones, they're too messy) of slightly discounted Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream. Did I dare push my Covid concerns aside and remove my mask to eat this fall treat on my walk home? YOU BET I DID!
Baskin Robbins ice cream is usually pretty solid. It's not the best ice cream you'll ever have, but it gets the job done. Unfortunately, they really missed the mark with the new Pumpkin Cheesecake flavor. It's bad. It tastes like it was made with real pumpkin (which was confirmed by looking at the ingredients), but it's not nearly as creamy as ice cream should be. In fact, it was almost grainy. Grainy. Not sure I've ever used that word to describe ice cream before.
If you're not getting the picture yet, maybe this bold statement will drive the message home: Baskin Robbin's Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream is the worst pumpkin thing since Smashing Pumpkins 2007 album Zeitgeist. And that's really saying something because that album is forking terrible.
Thanks God for the hot tip on the crappy ice cream. And just think, I braved a pandemic for that ice cream. I COULD HAVE DIED!
